The system begins at kilometer 70 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate in West Java and extends to kilometer 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang, Central Java.
The rollout was marked by a flag off by the minister, along with ranks of the police, toll road operator Jasa Marga, and traffic accident insurer Jasa Raharja. The one-way traffic officially began at 1:25 p.m.
"This is a manifestation of the state's presence to ensure the best service for those traveling home for Eid," Purwagandhi remarked after the ceremony.
According to him, the system had actually been in place since Tuesday (March 17), but only partially, from kilometer 70 to kilometer 263 of the Trans Java Toll Road.
He explained that the extended duration of the one-way system is driven by the rising volume of homecoming traffic on the Trans-Java Toll Road heading toward Central Java.
Although the one-way system is in place without any obstacles, he also reminded drivers to maintain vehicle speed control.
“We hope the public can travel safely and without disruption,” he said.
Earlier, the Transportation Ministry projected that about 143.9 million people will travel during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season.
The figure is slightly lower than last year’s survey estimate of about 146 million travelers. The projection is based on a nationwide survey conducted by the ministry to assess public travel intentions and preferences.
