Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak ensured that Hajj preparations have been continuing smoothly amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region.

“Alhamdulillah, as of today there are no obstacles in the preparations, both from the Indonesian side and the Saudi Arabian authorities. Insya Allah, the first departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will begin on April 22, 2026,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

At the start of his visit to Saudi Arabia, his side carried out various direct checks on the operational readiness of the Hajj as well as coordination with Saudi authorities.

He emphasized that the government continues to strive to ensure that all stages of the Hajj implementation run optimally in order to provide a sense of safety and comfort for pilgrims.

In addition to ensuring technical readiness, he also invited all Indonesian people to pray for the smooth implementation of this year’s Hajj.

“We pray that the implementation of the 2026 Hajj will run smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all pilgrims. We also ask for prayers from all Indonesian people so that this entire process is given ease,” he said.

On that occasion, he also emphasized the importance of the Hajj as a symbol of world peace, especially amid the ongoing dynamics of global conflict.

“Hajj carries a strong message about peace, the equality of humankind, as well as protection for vulnerable groups such as women and children,” he explained.

Simanjuntak also mentioned the Indonesian government’s efforts in promoting world peace.

“We pray that the various efforts carried out by President Prabowo Subianto in building dialogue among world leaders can bring about global peace,” he said.
