Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry continues to conduct surveillance and routine reporting from the field, as well as laboratory testing for precautionary measures, although no COVID variant BA.3.2, or Cicada, has been detected in Indonesia.

"As of now, the variant has not been found in Indonesia. The dominant variants in Indonesia are XFG at 57 percent, LF.7 at 29 percent, and XFG 3.4.3 at 14 percent, all with low risk," Head of the ministry's Public Communication and Information Bureau Aji Muhawarman said here on Thursday.

Media reports indicate that the Cicada COVID variant has been detected in around 20 countries and at least 25 states in the United States (US).

As the situation remains under control and low-risk, Muhawarman said, there are no specific tightening measures at the country's entry points, such as airports and seaports.

However, the ministry reminded the public to adopt Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, such as regularly washing hands with running water and soap, consuming nutritious food, getting adequate rest, and wearing masks when ill or in crowded places.

As quoted from the ministry's website, influenza and COVID-19 are routinely monitored through healthcare facilities, namely at 39 community health centers (puskesmas), 35 hospitals, and 14 Health Quarantine Centers at points of entry.

This monitoring is carried out to track cases, virus characteristics, and severity of symptoms.

As of Week 12, of 114 COVID-19 tests conducted, no positive cases were found, with a positivity rate of 0 percent.

The currently dominant COVID-19 variants in Indonesia fall into the low-risk category, so there is no need to panic, although maintaining health protocols remains important.
