Manado (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the Bunda Hati Kudus Yesus Catholic Church in Rumengkor Village, Minahasa, North Sulawesi, following a 7.6-magnitude earthquake earlier this month.

The quake caused the church's ceiling to collapse as the congregation was preparing for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.

Gibran arrived at the church wearing a dark gray shirt and was accompanied by North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus, Minahasa District Head Robby Dondokambey, and parish pastor Emmanuel Ohoiwutun.

He was seen speaking with local officials inside the church before greeting residents and taking photos with villagers.

Pastor Ohoiwutun said religious activities have continued despite the damage.

"Worship continues after the ceiling collapsed, as congregants carried out cleanup efforts," he said.

He also expressed appreciation for the vice president's visit and the attention from local authorities.
