In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, he stated that the visit has strategic meaning amid increasingly complex global geopolitical situations, particularly conflicts in the Middle East and energy security issues.
"The visit is very important to discuss global geopolitical conditions. This demonstrates President Prabowo's seriousness in achieving global security and peace," he said.
Soleh explained that President Prabowo's concrete diplomatic steps could encourage a permanent ceasefire, particularly in the war between Iran and the United States.
"Indonesia and Russia must advocate for world peace. We can propose a permanent ceasefire between Iran and the United States and push for an end to various armed conflicts," he said.
According to him, Russia currently holds a strategic position, with President Putin known to be communicating with Iran after negotiations with the US reached a deadlock.
He said it opens up broader diplomatic space, including Indonesia's involvement as a non-aligned country that consistently promotes peace.
In addition to geopolitical issues, bilateral cooperation in the energy sector will also be discussed.
Soleh hopes President Prabowo's visit to Russia will strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries.
"During this visit, President Prabowo can also strengthen energy cooperation, so that oil supplies remain secure and stable. This is important to prevent price fluctuations that impact the national economy," he said.
He believes strategic cooperation in the energy sector will be a crucial foundation for maintaining Indonesia's energy security amidst global uncertainty.
DPR hopes that Indonesia can play a more active role in global diplomacy while strengthening national interests in the energy sector and regional stability.
