The ministry’s Director General of Civil Aviation, Lukman F. Laisa, said on Friday that the helicopter was operated by one pilot, Capt. Marindra Wibowo, one engineer, Harun Arasyid, and six passengers.
The passengers were identified as Mr. Patrick K., a Malaysian citizen; Mr. Victor T.; Mr. Charles L.; Mr. Joko C.; Mr. Fauzie O.; and Mr. Sugito.
“The joint SAR team has successfully located the crash site, and based on information from the field, all passengers and crew have been declared dead,” Laisa said.
The eight bodies were evacuated by the joint SAR team to Bhayangkara Hospital in Pontianak for identification.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation expressed its deepest condolences over the crash of the Airbus Helicopter EC130 T2, registered PK-CFX.
The helicopter was operated by PT Matthew Air Nusantara on a route from the PT Cipta Mahkota (CMA) helipad to the PT Graha Agro Nusantara 1 (GAN1) helipad in Sekadau District, West Kalimantan.
According to initial reports, the aircraft took off at 7:37 a.m. and was detected transmitting a distress signal over a forest area in West Kalimantan at 8:39 a.m.
At 9:15 a.m., the aircraft was declared out of contact, and at 10:43 a.m., AirNav Indonesia issued an emergency notification, or DETRESFA, in accordance with established procedures.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” Laisa added.
His office, along with AirNav Indonesia and related agencies, continues to coordinate with the National Search and Rescue Agency and the Indonesian Air Force for evacuation and further handling at the crash site.
“We urge the public to wait for official information from the government and not to speculate about this incident,” he said.
