BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said that both nations have discussed the strengthening of ties specifically regarding registration mechanisms for Yemeni products entering Indonesia.
"The meeting ensured a more productive cooperation between Indonesia and Yemen, supported by effective and accountable halal product registration and certification processes as a form of commitment to providing legal certainty and protection for customers," he remarked in a statement on Monday.
Hasan emphasized that the cooperation aligns with Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance which requires all products circulating in Indonesia to be halal certified.
Furthermore Government Regulation No. 42 of 2024 stipulates that foreign products entering, circulating, and being traded in Indonesia must have their certificates registered through BPJPH.
According to Hasan this process ensures compliance with halal standards thoroughly from raw materials and production processes to final distribution.
"This cooperation ensures stronger ties between Indonesia and Yemen, not only for current trade needs but also opening wider collaboration opportunities for the future," he said.
He noted that with a strong regulatory foundation and shared commitment the relationship between the two nations will continue to grow sustainably.
Hasan added that the partnership will benefit the public while strengthening the global halal ecosystem through standardized practices.
As a concrete step Indonesia is set to begin halal certification registration for Yemeni products to harmonize global standards.
This strategic move is intended to provide protection for consumers in the country while facilitating international trade.
