"We also encourage provincial, district, and city governments to improve their cultural assets, including museums and cultural heritage sites," he said here on Monday.
He said that local governments could collaborate with the Ministry of Culture, other ministries and government agencies, and the private sector in improving the management of cultural assets in their regions.
The minister said that the Ministry of Culture supports efforts to revitalize and promote museums and regional cultural heritage sites to attract more visitors.
The Ministry of Culture during 2025 has revitalized 152 cultural heritage sites and museums in various regions, including the Gunongan Site in Aceh, Arjuna Temple in Central Java, the Tiger Cave Museum in South Sumatra, and the Kayu Jao Mosque in West Sumatra.
In addition, the ministry also established a partnership to revitalize Sanggabuwana Stage at the Surakarta Palace and renovate the Ranggawarsita Tomb in Klaten.
The ministry recorded that the total number of visitors to 18 museums and 34 cultural heritage sites managed by the Museum and Cultural Heritage Technical Implementation Unit during 2025 reached 4,322,507 people.
The Director General of Cultural and Tradition Protection, Restu Gunawan, said the number of visits has increased from around 3.8 million to 3.9 million in 2024.
