He held a meeting with representatives from Bahrul Ulum Pesantren based in Tambakberas within the Jombang district of East Java at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The forum served as strategic momentum for the government to encourage a stronger role for religious schools in national development in line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto.
Council chairman Hasib Wahab Chasbullah said after the meeting that his side expected the vice president to help bridge communication between Islamic clerics and the government.
He described solid ties between state leaders and religious figures as a key factor in maintaining national harmony.
Chasbullah noted that Bahrul Ulum Pesantren hopes the vice president can optimally carry out his duties under the leadership of the president.
He added that the delegation had invited the vice president to attend an event marking 55 years since the passing of Abdul Wahab Chasbullah in Jombang on May 10.
The late figure was a national hero and co-founder of the major Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama.
“Mr. Gibran said he is ready to visit Tambakberas on May 10, 2026,” he added.
