In a statement received Wednesday, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized that his institution’s role in the national priority program primarily revolves around providing supporting infrastructure, focusing on regions requiring greater government intervention.
He highlighted that prioritized regions include those considered remote and underdeveloped or others that remain beyond the reach of private MBG partners of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
"We continue strengthening synergy between the central and regional governments, including by backing road access from the airport to the Wirolegi SPPG site," Hanggodo said.
The minister underscored connectivity as a key factor for the smooth distribution of meals within the program.
However he continued by clarifying that the role of the ministry does not extend to handling daily kitchen operations.
Regarding specifications the minister pointed out that the facility is designed to produce and deliver up to 3,000 portions of meals per distribution cycle.
Recipients must be located within a 30 minute radius of the facility to ensure logistical efficiency and food freshness.
The project is being developed on a land plot loaned by the Jember district government and is projected to employ around 50 workers for local operations.
In compliance with sanitation and food safety standards the complex will be equipped with a drinking water installation and wastewater processing systems.
The site will also feature a waste collection center and other supporting facilities to meet national standards.
Once construction is complete the Public Works Ministry will hand over the kitchen to the National Nutrition Agency which plays the leading role in the program.
President Prabowo Subianto initiated the program as a strategic means to improve human resource quality through better nutritional intake nationwide.
Since its launch in January 2025 the initiative has served more than 60 million schoolchildren and mothers through over 26,000 service units established across the country.
