“In the 2026-2027 Biennium, the agreed grant value reached US$997,853, or around Rp17 billion. The support will be utilized for the implementation of 63 activities across BPOM work units, including standardization, supervision, and laboratory units,” BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar stated here on Tuesday.
He explained that the cooperation is a continuation of the partnership between BPOM and WHO Indonesia that has been ongoing since 2020.
Entering the fourth year of grant implementation, both parties continue to promote program synergies aligned with national health development priorities, WHO mandates, and the need to strengthen Indonesia’s drug and food control system.
The activities to be carried out include capacity building, policy dialogue, expert support, and technical assistance. The scope of cooperation covers strengthening the health system, improving population health, controlling communicable diseases and immunization, and enhancing preparedness for health emergencies.
Ikrar assessed that the collaboration serves as a strategic step to strengthen BPOM’s institutional capacity.
“The cooperation between BPOM and WHO Indonesia not only provides technical support but also strengthens policy harmonization with global standards and supports BPOM’s commitment to ensuring effective drug and food control, while maintaining BPOM’s capacity as a WHO-Listed Authority for vaccines,” he remarked.
Through this cooperation, BPOM reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening an effective, adaptive, and competitive drug and food control system.
Going forward, the collaboration is expected to encourage improvements in the quality of national drug and food supervision to support the protection of public health in Indonesia.
