Held under the theme “Pooling Wisdom, Embarking on a New Journey: Jointly Building a China-Arab Community with a Shared Future,” the two-day forum brought together around 250 representatives from more than 110 media outlets, think tanks, government institutions, enterprises, and international organizations from China and Arab countries.
In his opening remarks, Ahmed Aboul Gheit said countries in the Global South are facing a broad range of challenges.
He noted that the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping has opened new prospects for promoting the democratization of international relations, narrowing the North-South divide, resolving global crises peacefully, and building a better shared future.
Gheit stressed that Arab and Chinese media organizations and think tanks need to strengthen cooperation, build consensus, and deepen ties between their peoples while promoting a more just and equitable international order.
He added that holding the forum at the Arab League headquarters carries significant meaning, as it would encourage experience-sharing between Arab and Chinese institutions, deepen exchanges among civilizations, and strengthen China-Arab friendship.
President of Xinhua News Agency, Fu Hua, said China-Arab relations have entered their best period in history under the strategic guidance of President Xi and Arab leaders, marked by deeper mutual trust, expanding cooperation, and stronger cultural exchanges.
Fu emphasized the important role of media and think tanks in strengthening China-Arab relations by amplifying voices, providing intellectual support, and fostering people-to-people connections.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang recalled President Xi’s visit to the Arab League headquarters a decade ago, where he delivered a speech outlining China’s approach to Middle East issues.
Liao also highlighted President Xi’s recent four-point proposal aimed at safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East, which he said has received broad international support. Participants at the forum noted that China and Arab countries, as important members of the Global South, have consistently promoted peace, development, and mutually beneficial cooperation while contributing to global fairness and improved international governance.
The conference is co-hosted by Xinhua and the League of Arab States. Discussions during the event focus on peaceful development, digital innovation, diverse narratives, and mutual learning among civilizations.
A think tank report titled “Achievements, Opportunities, and Prospects of China-Arab Cooperation in the New Era” is also scheduled to be released during the forum.
