According to a statement in Jakarta on Friday, the visit included the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), and BelAZ Holding Management Company.
"Exploring cooperation with these companies aligns with one of the President of Indonesia's Astacita, namely, achieving national food security. To support the goal, agricultural modernization and the availability of efficient heavy equipment are crucial factors," Hartarto said.
During his visit to MTZ, Hartarto reviewed the development of tractor technology and agricultural machinery that have the potential to support Indonesia's food security and agricultural modernization agenda, including the development of food estates and increasing national agricultural productivity.
MTZ assured that all heavy equipment and machinery can be customized to customer needs. The company also offered training and technology transfer to support the collaboration.
In addition, MTZ met with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and held initial discussions regarding cooperation in the heavy equipment industry.
Meanwhile, the visit to the MAZ focused on potential cooperation in developing commercial, bus, and industrial vehicles, including opportunities for local assembly, technology transfer, and low-emission vehicle development.
During the visit to BelAZ Holding Company, the two parties discussed the potential to strengthen cooperation in the heavy mining equipment sector, including developing a maintenance ecosystem, local assembly, and opportunities to collaborate on the supply chain for heavy-vehicle tires sourced from Indonesian natural rubber.
In subsequent discussions, the two parties also discussed the conversion of cassava into ethanol and studies on the use of nickel batteries to support agricultural modernization.
In the mining sector, the use of nickel batteries in trucks has been applied to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and performance of heavy vehicles in the industrial and mining sectors.
Indonesia itself exports around 800 million tons of coal annually, making the need for dump trucks for efficient and sustainable mining a critical priority.
The Belarusian government has been continuously studying Indonesia's various heavy equipment needs. However, information regarding Indonesia's specific needs remains relatively difficult to obtain.
To address this, joint needs mapping, regular consultation forums, and increased communication between industry players and the governments of both countries are necessary.
The steps are considered to help ensure that the products and solutions offered align with needs on the ground.
