Prabowo said Indonesia had managed to secure domestic food stocks despite the worsening global food crisis, with several countries now seeking to buy Indonesian commodities.
“Bulog, do not sell too cheaply, but do not overcharge either. Remember, this crisis could last a long time. Our priority is to secure our people,” Prabowo said in Nganjuk, East Java.
The president said Indonesia’s rice supply remained stable and demand from overseas buyers had increased in recent months.

According to Prabowo, interest from foreign buyers rose after countries including India and Bangladesh imposed export restrictions to protect domestic food supplies.
He said Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency was achieved through joint efforts involving farmers, the military and the national police.
Prabowo stressed that food sovereignty was not only about maintaining affordable prices, but also ensuring sufficient supply availability during global crises.
“National survival is not only about affordability, but also about availability. Because our food supply is secure, we are relatively safer and better prepared for external crises,” he said.
Prabowo said the Red and White Village and Sub-district Cooperatives program would help strengthen agricultural production and commodity distribution across regions.
The inauguration marked the completion of 1,061 cooperative units, including 530 units in seven districts in East Java and 531 units across eight districts and cities in Central Java.
As of May 15, 2026, Indonesia had built 9,182 cooperative outlets, with a long-term target of developing 80,000 nationwide.
State-owned food company PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara is also building an additional 25,000 cooperative units, while the government aims to complete and operate 30,000 outlets by August 2026.
