Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, Director for Particular Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Agency, stated on Sunday that “the Directorate for Particular Crimes is coordinating the evacuation of the individual with the International Relations Division and the police attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia.”
In a written statement, Irhamni explained that the case began after the police attaché in Malaysia received a report on May 16, 2026, regarding alleged abuse and confinement of an Indonesian citizen.
The victim, identified by the initials DC, is known to be from Prabumulih, South Sumatra.
According to preliminary findings, DC suffered a broken leg along with injuries to his hand and head, reportedly inflicted by a member of the illegal tin smuggling network, Irhamni said.
Following the report, the police attaché initially coordinated with Kuala Langat Police Headquarters in Selangor.
However, the incident was later determined to fall under the jurisdiction of Sepang Police Headquarters, which instructed officers at Sungai Pelek Police Station to carry out the rescue. DC was successfully evacuated.
After being rescued, the victim told authorities that he had been coerced into transporting tin from Indonesia.
He was lured to Malaysia under false pretenses and, upon arrival, subjected to abuse and torture.
