According to him, such achievement is the result of the government's strategic measures over the past 19 months to strengthen food self-sufficiency ensuring the stability of Indonesian people basic needs.
"In the last 18 months, since I took office in October 2024, we have achieved much. We are now self-sufficient in food, rice, corn, and protein," he remarked on Saturday.
During bumper harvest of shrimp farming at the Area-Based Shrimp Cultivation Farm (BUBK) in Kebumen, Central Java, Prabowo detailed the current self-sufficiency achievement includes staple commodities, such as rice, corn, and chicken egg.

In terms of meat commodities, the government is currently accelerating its production with the target of full self-sufficiency in the next four to five years.
Amid global geopolitical tensions, Prabowo also pointed out the need for a strong defense to protect Indonesia’s natural resources from foreign interference or control.
Furthermore, the government continues to expand project development models to various regions, such as the development of shrimp and fish ponds in Waingapu, Gorontalo, and Pantura (North Coast) region of West Java.
This step is an integral part of the government's grand strategy to increase added value, create jobs, and strengthen Indonesia's position amidst challenging global economic dynamics.
The effort to strengthen food security are realised through the development of massive economic infrastructure, including BUBK in Kebumen, with an integrated modern technology sitting on 100 hectares of land.
