“We are mapping potential cooperation for infrastructure provision to support creative economy activities,” the ministry’s Director of Infrastructure Facilitation, Fahmy Akmal, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Akmal said digital infrastructure could be developed in creative economy zones across districts and cities to strengthen regional creative industries.
He said infrastructure support would cover not only digital products but also culture-, design- and media-based creative sectors.
“There is no minimum digital infrastructure requirement because creative economy potential extends beyond digital sectors,” Akmal said.
The ministry has also promoted regional creative industry development through the Indonesian Creative Districts/Cities Self-Assessment (PMK3I), the Creative Districts/Cities designation program and the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
Akmal said the growing number of districts and cities joining national and global creative economy programs reflected rising regional commitment to the sector.
Currently, 86 of Indonesia’s 514 districts and cities have implemented the PMK3I assessment program.
The KaTa Kreatif designation serves as national recognition for local governments demonstrating consistent commitment to creative economy development, he added.
In 2025, six districts and cities received KaTa Kreatif status, bringing the nationwide total to 47.
Also in 2025, Malang and Ponorogo joined the UCCN, following earlier members Pekalongan, Bandung, Ambon, Jakarta and Surakarta.
