National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Sudaryono stated Wednesday that the government is utilizing local institutions to navigate security challenges in sensitive zones.
"We are currently working on mechanisms to distribute MBG to children in conflict-prone regions. Several pilot projects have been underway using churches and similar facilities, with support from the military and the police," Sudaryono said.
The initiative aims to guarantee equitable access to balanced nutrition for all children, regardless of geographic or security barriers.
"All Indonesian children deserve access to better nutrition, particularly those needing government intervention in conflict-prone or remote regions," he affirmed.
As part of a broader push to reform program governance, the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs is leading a sweeping review of more than 13,000 centralized community kitchens, officially known as Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs).
Speaking at a separate briefing in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan outlined a phased timeline for the facility audits.
High-priority areas severely affected by childhood stunting, such as Highland Papua and East Nusa Tenggara, are slated for completion within a month.
"Our target is to complete the process within one month for facilities located in regions prioritized due to their high prevalence of stunting cases," Hasan told reporters.
Evaluations for the remaining kitchens—primarily spread across Java and Sumatra—are expected to wrap up over the next two months.
Inter-agency officials also agreed to finalize an updated database covering 63 million beneficiaries within 30 days and refocus program targets ahead of an August 5 deadline.
