In a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo walked through a smoke-shrouded area and inspected sites where fires had been extinguished.Firefighters continued battling remaining flames nearby.
Prabowo was accompanied by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The visit followed a coordination meeting led by Prabowo earlier Saturday. He instructed officials to provide a factual assessment of the fires as the basis for response strategies reflecting conditions on the ground.
The meeting was attended by West Kalimantan Governor, the regional police chief, the regional military commander, and representatives from the National Search and Rescue Agency, BMKG and the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency.
After receiving the latest reports, Prabowo stressed the need for a rapid, coordinated and field-oriented response.
He also urged regional governments to enforce regulations and strengthen preventive measures to prevent the fires from recurring.
