MIND ID Deputy President Director Dany Amrul Ichdan said AI implementation needs clear plans and execution, so the technology delivers real benefits to the company's operations.
"Execution is our keyword today. We are rich in content, rich in master plans, but we are often poor in execution," Ichdan said at the Energy Insights Forum here on Wednesday.
One application has been implemented at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) through a fatigue management programme to support occupational health and safety in coal mining activities.

Ichdan explained the system could detect drowsiness levels in drivers and workers, as well as issues warnings, if safety equipment such as helmets, vests, seatbelts, gloves, and masks do not meet standards.
The warnings are integrated with a platform and data center, allowing them to be relayed to workers or supervisors for follow-up. Ichdan described the application as a preventive AI function that helps detect occupational health and safety risks.
"That is why at MIND ID, we start small, think big, and move fast," he added.
In PT Aneka Tambang Tbk's (ANTAM) ferronickel operations, AI is used, among other things, to monitor conveyor belt conditions and help optimise processing facility operations.

Ichdan explained the technology could detect tears in conveyor belts, oversized materials, and equipment maintenance needs, as well as help monitor the composition of reductants and dolomite in the ferronickel processing.
Meanwhile, satellite-supported AI can help calculate and project underground conditions, though the results remain estimates, as the technology cannot guarantee the exact resource content beneath the surface, he remarked.
Such information could be a consideration in determining when to relocate drilling points, allowing exploration costs to be used more efficiently.
Ichdan stressed AI implementation must start from the business problem to be solved, with each application requiring a clear target and a designated person in charge.
