This statement was made by former US Air Force Commander in the Asia Pacific (US PACAF) General (ret.) William J Begert when making a courtesy call on Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Imam Sufaat in Jakarta Tuesday.
Spokesman for the Indonesian Air Force Air Commodore Bambang Samoedro said after attending the meeting, adding that the maintenance of F-16 jet fighters of the Indonesian Air Force is going on normally following the embargo.
"It had already been three years that they had been maintaining our F-16s," Bambang said.
The maintenance was carried out by Pratt & Whitney, where William Begert is Vice President for Business Development & Aftermarket Sales and Services.
Bambang also said that they consisted of several teams coming twice a year for checking the F-16s based at Iswahjudi air base in Madiun, East Java.
The Indonesian Air Force now has 10 F-16 Fighting Falcons based at Air Squadron 3 at Iswahjudi.(*)
