"The mafia network must be immediately investigated. It is impossible for Gayus to be able to freely tour abroad unless a strong backing is behind him," Bambang Soesatyo, a member of House of Representatives` Commission III from Golkar Party said to ANTARA here on Friday.
The confession of Gayus must be made an entry point to unveil the whole case including "who are in the network that protects him so far."
He said the case was a slap on the face of law enforcers and the anti-judicial mafia taskforce.
"The public trust in our legal system has dropped drastically. People have been shown how was the mentality of law enforcement apparatus that could easily be bribed," he said.
Bambang said it was legitimate for the public now to question the deal that had been made between the taskforce and Gayus Tambunan when they met in Singapore before Gayus was pun into detention.
According to him it seems it has been deliberately let go. "Gayus went abroad for a special purpose. And when suddenly the taskforce said that Gayus went abroad to secure his assets that would be strange," he said.
That means from the meeting in Singapore which taskforce member Denny Indrayana said as a coincidence the taskforce had actually known a lot of information about Gayus.
"Isn`t it?. So I think the taskforce has actually known since in Singapore that Gayus keeps a lot of funds and assets abroad," he said.(*)
