Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Business tycoon Sudwikatmono passed away at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore early Saturday.

Former president Soeharto`s cousin died at 5 am Singaporean time while being treated for a kidney complication, according to a media report.

"He had been undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore, since a month ago," Hanny, a niece of Sudwikatmono`s wife, told Liputan6.com.

Born on December 28, 1934, at Wuryantoro village, Wonogiri, Central Java, Sudwikatmono is survived by a wife, four children and eight grandchildren.

His remains are expected to arrive at his Pondok Indah residence on Saturday afternoon, and will be buried at Diego Hills, Purwakarta, West Java, on Sunday (Jan 9).

Sudwikatmono was a successful businessman during the New Order era as he was close to Soeharto, the country`s second and longest-serving president.

Soeharto had appointed him to chair "Dana Mandiri" Foundation to support the government`s poverty eradication program.

He had started his business in 1957 in leather exports, and later on he established almost one hundred business entities, including the Twenty One movie theater chain.
