The team of six climbers consisting of Ardeshir Yaftebbi, Fajri Al Luthfi, Martin Rimbawan, Nurhuda, Iwan Irawan and Gina Afriani, arrived at Soekarno Hatta airport in Jakarta on Monday at 11 pm by Qatar Airways.
The group besides the six main climbers there three journalists who monitored their climbing activities. The group was led by executive chairman of Seven Summits Yoppi R Saragih.
At the airport the group was warmly welcomed by their relatives who had been waiting for quite a long time at the airport.
The climb to the highest peak in Latin America was very difficult compared to the three earlier climbs. And to reach the peak the climb had to be carried out twice, and one of the climbers, Gina Afriani, failed to reach the peak due to ill health.
The weather was also not very friendly during the climb. Before climbing, everybody had to pass a health test by the local health authorities.
From the committee, the welcome was made by the general chairman of the Seven Summits Expedition Endriartono Sutarto.
The climb to the Aconcagua peak was the most difficult for the team, supported by the State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Telkomsel, Tugu Pratama, state oil company Pertamina, Eiger and state tin company PT Timah, after previously the six climbers successfully flew the Red and While flag at the peak of Ndugu-Ndugu (Austronesia), Kilimanjaro (Africa) and Elbrus (Russia) last year.
During the climb to the seven highest peaks in seven continents, the Seven Summits Expedition team still has to climb McKinley, the highest peak of North America, Vinson Massif the highest peak in the Antarctic, and the last one Everest, the highest mountain in the world. (*)
