"Our equipment to track down the foreigner (known by his initial as J) is limited. We will ask Interpol to help. Certainly we first have to issue a red notice. So we will also cooperate with the US embassy," Com Gen Ito Sumardi, head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department, said here on Friday.
The cooperation, he said, is done with regard to seeking more information to complete the data of the Directorate General of Immigration of the ministry of justice and human rights for use by the joint police and immigration office team to discover the location used to make the forged passport used by Gayus Tambunan to go abroad.
The police, he said, would of course fully help the Directorate General of Immigration find information, using their equipment, on the whereabouts of the foreigner.
Justice Minister Patrialis Akbar said so far no proof had been found by the joint team to show that the forged passport under the name of Sony Laksono was made at home or by the immigration office.
"We (the Directorate of Immigration) have 118 offices and no proof has been found there. We have also not found it in places we have suspected so far," Patrialis said.
In view of that he said it was temporarily believed that the passport used by Gayus for going to Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau was made abroad.
In connection with it he said the Directorate of Immigration would continue its cooperation with the police to settle the passport forgery case.
The National Police Chief spokesman, Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar, earlier said at the national police headquarters that there were two persons both having initials J who were believed to be part of a passport forgery syndicate that had made a forged passport for Gayus and one of them was believed to be a foreigner.
Boy meanwhile also said that the police had discovered a lot of materials for evidence in the case.
He said the police raided three locations on January 3, 2010 namely Gayus`s residence at Gading Park View in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, the East Jakarta immigration office and the residence of suspect AN in Utan Kayu.
"Some of the materials could be used as evidence to indicate passport foregey by Gayus, involvement of a passport forgery syndicate and the departure of Gayus abroad," he said.
At Gayus`s residence the police discovered a boarding pass of China Airlines, a boarding pass of Air Asia under the name of Milana Anggraeni (Gayus`s wife), a service card from a wig shop, a Macau hotel envelope, an electronic ticket, a bill from Hotel Marriott in Singapore, a letter from one of hotels in Hong Kong, shopping bills for a number of goods of Hong Kong and a laptop unit.
"These show that the person concerned has been abroad," he said.
Meanwhile from the residence of AN the police confiscated a camera, a cellphone and a passport under the name of AN issued by an immigration office.
At the East Jakarta immigration office the police confiscated a form for passport application under the name of Margaretha, a copy of data under the name of Sony Laksono, Milana Anggraeni and Devina, the one who had said seeing and being aboard the same plane with Gayus to Singapore.
"The data are put in a compact disc," he said.
Patrialis said the joint team had not known where the passport was now. "We are still trying to find i. We have not known where it is now," he said.
He said he did not hold the forged passport. The passport picture of Gayus in disguise shown on the twitter account of the task force member Denny Indrayana was taken from a copy. "I just got the photocopy that is in circulation. (I gave to the task force) because I am responsible to give information to the task force," he said.
Gayus meanwhile had earlier said that he had dumped the passport in the sea after using it to go to Singapore.(*)
