Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono arrived in Pangkalpinang, capital of Bangka Belitung province, on Saturday for a one-day working visit.

During his stay, the vice president will hold dialogs with students, family planning officers, and health workers, the vice presidential secretariat said in a statement.

Boediono, accompanied by his wife Herawati Boediono and a number of ministers is visiting Pangkalpinang as part of his two-day tour which also took him to Palembang, South Sumatra, the day before.

The ministers includes Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto and National Education Minister M Nuh.

On Saturday afternoon, the vice president will hold a dialog with representatives of students of senior high schools (SMA), vocational schools (SMK) and Islamic senior high schools (MAN) from throughout Pangkalpinang. He will also witness the handing over of corporate social responsibility (CSR) assistance to a number of schools.

He will later hold a dialog with recipients of the National Program for Community Empowerment (PNPM Mandiri) assistance, family planning officers, and health workers all over the province.

PNPM Mandiri, first introduced in 2007, focuses on providing financial aid to various community-based programs aimed at increasing the quality of its members. The programs are chosen and designed by communities at district level.

On Saturday night, he will meet with the rank and file of the Bangka Belitung provincial administration to discuss efforts to deal with mining-related problems.

Boediono is scheduled to return back to Jakarta at 09.25 p.m. on Saturday.
