Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has asked law enforcers to handle all legal cases as fairly as possible.

"A number of legal cases at present should be handled completely and fairly," the vice president said here on Monday.

Speaking at a function to open the 3rd national conference of the Union of Retired National Police Officers. the vice president said based on a survey, the performance of law enforcers still needs to be streamlined and improved.

"Based on the survey, the people still complain about the performance of the law enforcers, and the complaints are a form of public concern that has to be responded to positively by the National Police (Polri), other law enforcement institution, and the government," Boediono said.

Polri is an integral part of the nation and state, and therefore all parties should support its law enforcement management to be better in the future.

"We have to support Polri`s external and internal management so that it becomes more authoritative in enforcing the law," the vice president said.

He said the management in the police institution was part of bureaucratic reforms, set by the government for all government institutions.

"Polri is part of the national development system that can support democracy, and the democracy cannot function without a law enforcement," the vice president said.
