Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The new director general of taxation, Fuad Rahmany, said he would target big taxpayers to achieve the potential tax revenue of Rp708 trillion in 2011.

"Many big tax payers that have not paid tax fully. So with the capacity that we have we will find them, identify transactions that are taxable and companies that have not paid tax. That is the capacity that has been built so far and which we have just to boost it," he said here on Thursday.

To identify the tax potential of big tax payers Fuad said the Directorate General of Taxation would used all the data of the offices linked to taxation including from the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

"We will use all the data in the offices that are linked to taxation," he said.

He said the tax office would conduct intensification as well as extending tax collection through a more effective study.

"We will study the tax potentials. We will conduct intensification and extend the collection but focus will be put on extending the collection as there are still a lot of taxpayers that have not paid tax fully. So there must be more effective study and investigation to be done so that more taxpayers would pay their tax," he said.

He said the state income from tax at present was still just a few percents of the potentials and to boost tax collection the Directorate General of Taxation would internally improve its human resource management.

"We will improve the capacity of our human resources. I am optimistic if we could improve the way we work and the benchmark is understood well by the account representative officials the tax collection will be better," he said.

He said training for tax officials would be intensified so that the method of tax collection that has been improved could be carried out well.

"Certainly there will be training and education. They have already been activated so far but we will intensify them further. If we can do them all tax income will increase. The corruption case of former tax official Gayus Tambunan has provided a lesson for improving our system," he said. (*)
