Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak finally resigned from his administration on Friday night (Feb 11), with the announcement of the Vice President Oman Sulaeman via national television broadcast.

The resignation of the first man in Egypt brings the people of the country to joyfulness, due to the 18 day demonstrating protests demanding on the Mubarak ouster since Tuesday (Jan 25).

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa, here Saturday, said in the press release received by ANTARA that RI government appreciated the effort of Egyptian people in fighting for their voices.

"On behalf of the RI government, I congratulate all Egyptian people who have successfully overcome the political challenges which are facing now. The RI government has belief that this will be the starting point of democracy transition era for Egypt, which is peaceful and inclusive including all elements in the country," said Marty in the release, here Saturday.

Since Indonesia had ever had the similar process 12 years ago, the process of transition would bring Egypt to the more advanced, democratic and stronger country, he added.

"RI believes that Egypt will play important role in the peace process in the Middle East, as well as strengthening both countries` partnership to be developed and increased," the Minister said here.

As a country which had the same problem, RI was ready to share experiences in walking on such transition, especially in the reform process, democratic transition and transformation of politic system, Marty added.

"RI will be at Egypt`s side in helping the country to reach the democratic transition as well as creating imperishable peacefulness in the Middle East," said he.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed El Kewaisny said, here Saturday, Egypt would be gradually improved within seven days after the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak on Friday (11/2).

The Ambassador asked the Indonesian citizens who had been evacuated here to return to Egypt because the learning process in several universities would be started soon.

"Within one week, the study at universities in Egypt will be started because the revolution has already received the target. So, Indonesian citizens do not need to be afraid of the situation there. Egypt is safe," said Kewaisny to ANTARA, here Saturday.

Many people in Egypt celebrated the stepping down of Hosni Mubarak by shouting `Allahu Akbar` (God is great) while kneeling in prostration to God, as reported by ANTARA from Cairo.

`Thanks God, I feel a bit relieved although we have to keep aware because it is still in the transition,` said the Leader of Indonesian Students in Egypt (PPMI) to ANTARA, here Friday (Feb 12) in Cairo.

"We`re so grateful and glad for the ending of demonstrations in Egypt by the resignation of President Husni Mubarak," said Alnofiandri Dinar, the leader of Minang Family Association in Cairo, to ANTARA.

Not only Indonesian immigrants in Egypt who expressed their gratitude due to the Mubarak overthrow, but also the protesters stated the similar feelings. Nevertheless, an anxiety was still felt by the citizens due to the future of the country which was led by its military. The step down of Mubarak did not close any possibility that some people kept worries about the future government which was led by Egyptian military.

The situation in Egypt was getting gripped because group of people who came together in Tahrir Square would hold bigger demonstration to overturn Mubarak`s dictator regime. However, the horrifying situation was turned to uproar when Oman said that Mubarak decided to quit from the administration and gave the government to be led by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Armed Forces.

"In the middle of difficult circumstance in this country, President Hosni Mubarak decided to leave his presidential position," said Sulaeman through national television broadcast, Friday (Feb 11), as quoted from AP.

Beforehand, Mubarak kept his thought to not step down from the administration and delegated his leadership to the VP Oman Sulaeman. Nevertheless, the Egyptian people rejected if the vice president took over the presidential position in Egypt and did not allow Mubarak to finish the administration until the next election in September, 2011.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt A.M. Fachir appraised the action of President Hosni Mubarak who had led one of the most populous countries in North Africa and the Middle East since 1981.

"His resignation showed his nationalism to patiently accept what his people want," said Fachir to ANTARA in Cairo, Friday (11/2).(*)
