Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Twenty-one workers from Karangasem regency, Bali, had been sent to Japan following an apprenticeship in livestock breeding and horticulture under the management of the Tsukuba cooperatives society of Hibaraki province in Japan.

"They will be following practical training for three years and it was hoped that upon their return they would practice their skills in Karangasem," head of the Karangasem regency manpower agency I Gusti Nyoman Arya Sulang said here Sunday.

He said that the 21 workers who prior to leaving had been given special training and skills, were the third batch with the first sent in 2008.

Thus, the latest batch will bring the number of all the workers of Karangasem regency sent to Japan to 78, because the two first and second batches comprised a total of 57 workers.

"They had passed the selection conducted by the companies which will be using them while in Japan," Arya Sulang said.

He said that the departure of the Indonesian workers to Japan was also made with the approval of the Manpower Ministry.

"While in Japan they are entitled to very liberal wages, besides free living quarters, and some other facilities," he said.

After three years in Japan, under the contract they will return to Bali in the hope to develop and promote self-sufficiency in their own business opportunities using the wages that they received in Japan.(*)
