Data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) indicated that the temblor occurred at 00.52 am and did not have a potential to trigger a tsunami.
BMKG said the epicenter of the earthquake was located 7.99 degrees southern latitude and 122.78 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 205 kilometers in the sea.
It was located 158 kilometers northeast of Ende, 258 kilometers northwest of Kupang, 265 kilometers northeast of Ruteng, 281 kilometers southeast of Baubau in Southeast Sulawesi, and 1,783 kilometers southeast of Jakarta.
Several hours before on Sunday night another 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Gunung Sitoli in North Sumatra at 9.32 pm local time.
Its epicenter was located 1.34 degrees northern latitude and 97.02 degrees eastern longitude 17 kilometers in the sea, some 64 kilometers northwest of Gunung Sitoli.
Earlier at 6.12 am on Saturday another earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Southeast of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) Province or Northeast of Gunung Sitoli, Nias, North Sumatra.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) the epicenter of the earthquake was located 1.97 degrees Northern Latitude and 97.88 degrees Eastern Longitude, 35 km Southeast of Singkil Baru, 81 km Northeast of Gunung Sitoli, 103 km Northwest of Sibolga Sea, 121 km Southwest of Tarutung, at the depth of 10 kilometers.
There was no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
