President Yudhoyono would send a message to ask if they wished to stay in the coalition.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to ask chiefs of political parties in the government coalition about their commitment to his government, his special aide for political communications, Daniel Sparingga, said.

President Yudhoyono would send a message to ask if they wished to stay in the coalition, he said here on Wednesday.

President Yudhoyono on Tuesday warned he would give sanctions to parties in the coalition if they would not uphold their commitment to the agreements that were made when joining the coalition.

Daniel said "in the message, I think and I would not be surprised he would ask a simple question of whether they would remain to be important parts of the coalition or choose to leave it."

President Yudhoyono said on Tuesday he along with Vice President Boediono would soon conduct an intensive communication with chiefs of the political parties in the coalition with regard to the coalition`s future.

Daniel said the most important motive in the communication was to make his government able to work more effectively in view of his term which was only 3.5 years left.

He said the communication was urgent in view of what has happened so far and therefore President Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono would not want to take a risk and waste their time.

"The answer is expected to be as simple as the question namely yes or no. And as the question is put in the form of a letter it would be better if they give the answer rationally because it has nothing to do with feelings but the fate of the coalition-based government," he said.

Daniel said in the past 1.5 years no firm and united voice had n not always been heard clearly from the coalion. With President Yudhoyono`s statement yesterday he said a clear line had been drawn and the coalition must be made to have one voice to support the government.

"The period of jokes has been over. People should straighten out their minds and sense towards for the coalition," he said.(*)
