Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s and Singapore`s militaries have agreed to put on a solid footing their cooperation in exercises for war and non-war purposes.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono and Singapore Army Chief of Staff Lt Gen Neo Kian Hong in Jakarta on Thursday.

Both parties at the meeting agreed to place the already good cooperation such as Indonesia-Singapore Intelligence Exchange (Isintelex), Indonesia-Singapore Joint Coordinated Committee (ISJCC), Indonesia-Singapore Joint Training Committee (ISJTC) and Indonesia-Singapore Joint Logistics Committee (ISJLC) on a solid footing.

TNI spokesman Rear Admiral Iskandar Sitompul said the two countries military also cooperated in the forms of Safkar Indopura of army, Joint Minex of navy, and Elang Indopura of air force.

"All forms of cooperation are made to strengthen the relations of the two countries military and to improve the capability and professionalism of the soldiers," he said.

On the occasion, Neo Kian Hong confirmed the presence of his staff in ARF Disaster Relief Exercise (DiREx) 2011 in Manado, North Sulawesi.

The military of Indonesia and Singapore have earlier conducted TNI-SAF Annual Staff Meeting to evaluate the existing cooperation and to formulate the form of an even wider cooperation.
