Islamabad (ANTARA News/IRNA-OANA) - At least eight people were killed and several injured in a blast at a CNG station in the Pakistani eastern city of Faisalabad, police said.

Police sources said that explosion took place near an office of law enforcement agency in the area.

Nature of the explosion was still not known but initial reports suggested that it was a CNG cylinder blast.

The CNG station was destroyed while nearby buildings including PIA office were damaged in the blast and windows in nearby houses were smashed by flying debris. Several vehicles parked in the area were also damaged in huge blast.

Police had cordoned off the site of the blast. According to Rescue 1122 relief service sources the injured being transferred to Civil Hospital and other medical facilities in Faisalabad.

A large number of people have gathered near the building, where explosion heard.
