Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) strongly supported sustainable palm oil business operations.

"President SBY strongly supported palm oil business operations," Dipo Alam said in a press statement received here Friday.

When receiving the management of the Indonesian Palm Oil Businessmen`s Association (GAPKI) led by its Chairman Joefly J Bahroeny here Thursday, the head of state asked the association to punish any of its members for violating regulations particularly on the environment.

The head of state also called on members of GAPKI to increase their production and productivity. Palm oil producers were also reminded to take heed of this.

In the meeting, the president was accompanied by Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, and Environmental Affairs Minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta.

On the occasion, President Yudhoyono was invited to officially open the 7th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference and 2012 Price Outlook, which will be organized in Bali on December 1 and 2, 2011.
