Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - A pencak silat (traditional Indonesian martial arts) athlete, Isak Dapalawi, 18, died after being penalized by his coach for skipping three days of training, police said.

An autopsy by a team of doctors had shown Isak had sustained suffered injuries and a neck fracture, chief of East Java`s Gubeng police station, Commissioner Gusti Agung Dana told the press here on Wednesday.

"Police have questioned witnesses including the victim`s trainer. To date, nobody has as yet been named a suspect," Gusti said.

Commissioner Gusti Agung Dana said, the punishment happened when Isak took part in an exercise on a hockey field on Darmawangsa street on Tuesday (April 5) after being absent for three days.

While being penalized, Isak fell unconscious and eventually had to be rushed to hospital. Unfortunately, Isak Dapalawi died on the way to the hospital, the police said.

Eight persons including the victims` relatives and a few coaches have been questioned to uncover the case, the police added.
