Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to establish cooperation in the defense field, specifically with regard to training, exercises, personnel exchanges and defense industry development.

The defense ministry in a press statement here Tuesday said the agreement was reached during a meeting between Deputy Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Prince Khalid bin Sultan in Saudi Arabia recently.

"Two parties in June 2011 will set up a Working Group or a Military Joint Committee (WG/MJC) which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia or Jakarta," he said.

The WG/MJC forum will be followed by a signing of MOU by the two parties in December 2011.

In Riyadh, the deputy defense minister also visited Shagr Al-Jazeera military museum, and Saudi`s Advanced Electronic company.

During this visit in Saudi Arabia, Deputy Minister Sjafrie introduced several made-in Indonesian military products, such as PT Pindad latest production rifle SS2 V1 and PT Dirgantara-manufactured CN 35 aircraft.
