Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Members of the student executive council of Diponegoro University in Semarang rejected the construction of the new DPR building because it will hurt the feelings of the people.

In their action, the students brought a replica of the new building and posters calling on the authorities to have greater care for the people.

Chairman of the executive council Indra Permana said the students were very disappointed with the lawmakers which were more concerned with the more than Rp 1 trillion new tower and all its fancy facilities rather than thinking more about their main duties and functions.

He also said that actually similar rejections had also come from many other parts of the society, but all the protests simply fell on deaf ears.

The students also urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the State Audit Board (BPK) to investigate the inflated budget of the project. (*)
