Lahat, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Flash floods in Tanjungsakti Pumi sub-district, Lahat regency, South Sumatra, had flooded scores of home in Negeri Kaya village with the flood waters reaching one meter and forced residents to evacuate.

The flash floods on Monday came from the overflowed Manna river, not only inundated tens of houses in Negeri Kaya village, Pulau Panggung, but also forced the villagers to evacuate to higher ground.

"The floods came at 4 pm, inundating 35 houses with the flood waters reaching one meter high, especially in Negeri Kaya village, Tajungsakti Pumi sub-district, and practically all our residents had evacuated," Negeri Kaya village chief said.

He said before the rain fell, heavy rain hit the area for about four hours followed by the overflowing of Manna river inundating the houses. (*)
