Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has assured investors that the Indonesian government will continue to manage the country`s economy prudently in both fiscal and monetary terms, his spokesman, Yopie Hidayat, said.

Yopie said the vice president gave the assurance when he received Senior Vice President of Franklin Templeton Investments Michael Hasenstab at his office here on Wednesday.

"The vice president said that the government would continue to pursue prudent macro economic policies in the fiscal and monetary fields," Yopie said.

According to the vice presidential spokesman, Boediono during the meeting with the United States-based investment institution, also expressed optimism over the future of the country`s economy.

He said that Indonesia had great untapped economic potentials.

He said that the vice president also told Hesenstab about the various infrastructure projects the government had designed to boost economic development.

"The vice president is convinced that if the infrastructure problems are solved, the country`s economic development will happen faster," the vice presidential spokesman said.

He said that during the meeting both were involved in the discussion on the economic development. "Because both of them are economists, they discussed economic matters," Yopie said.***5***
