Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Military (TNI) commander Admiral Agus Suhartono said TNI and the police would not tolerate any action or threat that would hurt the country`s reputation including disruptions of the 18th ASEAN Summit.

"Our success in organizing the ASEAN Summit will be an honor for us all, the Indonesian nation and state," he said when inspecting security preparations for the summit here on Friday.

In view of that he said TNI and the police would not tolerate any threat small though it is that would disrupt the event.

Agus accompanied by national police chief General Timur Pradopo checked themselves locations that would be used for the summit activities including the task force command posts in and outside the Jakarta Convention Center, where the summit is to be held.

To ease command and control of security forces involved in the summit security TNI and the police had set up a tactical command post complete with security equipment and means for monitoring developments in and around the venue.

TNI and the police had also prepared field accomodations for security personnel so that they could stand by 24 hours during the summit.

Agus said the success of the implementation of the summit would promote the country`s image and honor before the international community in line with Indonesia`s position as current chair of ASEAN.

"For that TNI and the police would not tolerate anything that could damage the country`s reputation and honor," he said.

Agus hoped the Indonesian people especially Jakarta residents to participate in supporting the implementation of the summit so that all delegations could carry out their tasks well and comfortably. (*)
