According to written information from the US embassy Thursday, the project will provide support to the Indonesian government to jointly develop the economic policies necessary for rapid, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.
The project will also help strengthen government policies to spur job creation, and poverty reduction.
Sponsored by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the SEADI project will advance the objectives of the Indonesia-U.S. Comprehensive Partnership.
The Partnership is working to promote prosperity, sustain the environment, strengthen democracy, enhance understanding, and ensure security for Indonesians and Americans.
"Indonesia needs new jobs for a new generation of young people," explained USAID Mission Director Walter North.
North also said that this new project will help Indonesian institutions and universities answer this challenge.
The objectives of the 30-month project are to improve economic policy in such areas as business environment, trade and investment, labor market, and non-bank financial institutions; and strengthen economic analysis capacity of Indonesians and Indonesian institutions.
SEADI will utilize existing Indonesian institutions to undertake economic analysis and capacity building and will provide long-term training for a number of Indonesians.(*)
