At the rally, the students from Syiah Kuala University also denounced Israeli military brutality against Palestinians.
They also chanted slogans "Destroy Israel" and "We are struggling for Palestinian independence" and set the Israel flag ablaze.
In his oration, the rally`s coordinator, Alfajrin, said almost for 63 years the Palestinian people had been living under the pressure of Israeli occupation, adding the Zionist state had robbed the Palestinian people of their sovereignty.
"Israel must soon stop its siege at Gaza because it violates human rights. We also demand that the Palestinians who are now living in refugee camps be returned home," he said.
He also called on Muslims to condemn the plan by a handful of people to commemorate the Israeli anniversary in Indonesia. Commemorating the Israeli anniversary amounted to celebrating the death of Palestinian Muslims, he said.
The rally which started at 11.30 a.m. run peacefully. The rally caused traffic congestion at the Simpang Lima roundabout. About one hour later the students dispersed.
