The request was made by Chairman of Papua`s Communion of Churches Reverend Lipiyus Binilok when he met with the minister at the Sentani Hotel here on Saturday.
Lipiyus Biniluk said that in general the Christian community in Papua were able to perform their religious services peacefully but those staying outside Papua such as in Java, Sulawesi and Sumatra felt insecure when they performed their religious rituals.
He acknowledged that at present there were radical groups who tried to disturb interfaith harmony and disrupt the nation`s unity.
On the occasion, the religious affairs minister admitted there were many problems befalling houses of warship like churches and mosques.
"The ministry of religious affairs is always sensitive to the problem of worship houses and always does its best to settle them immediately," the minister said.
He said that if there were problems faced by Christians in Java, it did not mean that their presence was not accepted, but it concerned unresolved administrative problems that should be handled not only by the district/mayoralty government but also the government at the ministerial level.(*)
