"The ceramic piece in the form of the bottom of a ceramic cup belonged to the sixth century about 1200 years ago. This is a great finding which confirmed the high culture and international relations of the people of Kerinci in the past," cultural researcher Iskandar Zakaria said here on Sunday.

Besides the ceramic fragment, Pardinal also found ancient fossils and another dish fragment.

The dish fragment was believed to be coming from the era of the Tsing Dynasty in the 12th century. The two objects, according to Pardinal, a stone and sand miner of the Buntung River, were found buried in different depths.

The sand miner said that the ancient items were found when in 2006 he was leveling a hill near the river to be made a pool where sand and stones were to be loaded onto trucks.
