Trenggalek, East Java (ANTARA News) - Flash floods hit dozens of villages in Trenggalek district, East Java, after incessant rain in the region from Thursday evening until early Friday.

There were no immediate reports about casualties but the floods inundated a number of areas with the flood water levels reaching up up to 1.5 meters. The inundated Areas included several parts of Trenggalek city.

"The floods began at 0.30 am on Friday. The height of the floods continued to increase this morning as the flood waters moved d from higher areas to lower ones," a spokesman of the Trenggalek regional government, Yoso Mihardi. said here on Friday.

But the Disaster Mitigation Agency of Trenggalek has yet to confirm the number of villages inundated by the flood waters.
