Jakarta (ANTARA News) - After meeting difficulties in persuading bribery suspect Nunun Nurbaeti to return to Indonesia, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially asked for the revocation of her passport.

"We sent pur letter (requesting revocation of Nunun`s passport) ) to the Law and Human Rights Minsitry today," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Thursday.

Nunun was named a suspect in the bribery of a number of legislators to ensure the election of Miranda Goeltom as senior deputy governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), the cantral bank, in 2004. She allegedly had distributed an amount of money in the form of traveller`s cheques among the legislators shortly after the House endorsed her candidacy for the BI post.

KPK Chairman Busyro Muqoddas had previously said he had already signed a letter requesting the law and human rights ministry to invalidate Nunun`s passport.

Busyro also said the KPK had once asked Nunun`s family to help persuade her to return to Indonesia. Nunun, the wife of former National Police deputy chief Adang Daradjatun, had all along been reported to be residing in Singapore allegedly for treatment of amnesia.

But it was later known that she often traveled between Singapore and Thailand. apparently to facilitate her extended stay in Singapore.(*)
