The official, identified as Timas Ginting, would be detained for 20 days to facilitate the investigation of his case, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said here on Friday.
Ginting is currently the head of the administrative affairs subsection at the ministry`s directorate of regional facility and infrastructure development. He was appointed an official responsible for the construction of a solar power plant worth Rp8.9 billion in 2008.
Djohan said the suspect was believed to have abused his power by approving payments for supervision jobs to work partners although the project had not yet been completed.
The KPK accused Ginting of enriching himself or other people or corporate body by abusing his power in violation of article 2 sub-article 1 and/or article 3 of Law No.31 of 1999 on corruption eradication, he said.
Because of his wrongdoings the state suffered a loss of Rp3.8 billion, he said.
Ginting is being held at Salemba detention center in Central Jakarta after being grilled at the KPK building here.
The anti-graft body has named Ginting a suspect in the graft case since May 5 this year.
