"The report is not about a general elections dispute case because all general elections disputes have been settled at the Constitutional Court. This case is about embezzlement and forgery of state documents," he said after a meeting between the House of Representatives Commission III and the Constitutional Court.
He said the statement following Andi Nurpati`s statement that the case reported by the Constitutional Court was a general elections case and long overdue.
Mahfud said a case would be declared overdue after it was 12 years old meaning the statute of limitations is until 2022.
He said he hoped the police would immediately follow up the report that he had made almost 16 months ago.
Regarding the police`s inactivity so far Mahfud said it was the police`s affair.
Commission III member Ruhut Sitompul praised Mahfud for having reported the case of another Democrat Party cadre, Andi Nurpati. " I support what you have reported. So tell us all," he said at the meeting.
Ruhut also expressed his willingness to help Mahfud in the case. "I promise I will help you," he said.
It was earlier reported Mahfud had reported Andi Nurpati to the police in connection with alleged document forgery.
The allegation was connected with the allocation of a seat in the House of Representatives from the South Sulawesi electoral region disputed by Dewi Yasin Limpo from the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) and Mestariyani Habibie from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
