The three-day regional seminar will be organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) with funding from the European Union (EU) and co-hosted by the Indonesian government, a press statement of the European Community delegation said here Thursday.
UNIDIR Deputy Director Chrisiane Agboton-Johnson will chair the opening session of the regional seminar.
ATT is a new international instrument currently under negotiation at the United Nations.
The seminar will focus on the ATT negotiations with an overview of the process and discussions on the future Treaty`s implementation modalities, and on exchange views on national arms transfer controls, cooperation and assistance.
UNIDIR for the EU is supporting the ATT negotiations by ensuring that the process is as inclusive as possible and that countries will be able to make concrete suggestions and recommendations on the elements and functioning of the future Treaty.
The project also supports state in developing and improving national and regional arms transfer control systems.
